Board of Directors

Helen Kiprono

Founder and Chair

Helen Kiprono is the founder and chair of Camp Possibilities International. She is a proud mother of a 9-year-old son. A veteran Paralympian, she has participated as a blind woman in a variety of international athletic events for many years. In addition to being an advocate for people with disabilities, she serves on a diversity and inclusion board and is a member of lions’ clubs International. She lives in Rochester, New York.

Antonio Guimaraes

Secretary

Along with his duties as Secretary, Antonio chairs the CPI Communications Committee. He is blind and was born in Brazil. As a teenager growing up in Rio de Janeiro, he was exposed to several sports such as swimming, goalball, five aside football, track, javelin, and long jump. Antonio has a Master’s in technology and design from New York University and a Bachelor’s in communication from UMASS Boston. He works as a website accessibility consultant and lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Judith MacKnight

Treasurer

Judy is a District Governor with Lions International. She accompanied Helen Kiprono a few years ago for a sports camp for the blind at Korrara Special School for the Blind in Bomet County in Kenya. Many years ago, she taught school in Kenya. She lives in Rochester, New York.

Jennifer Bose

Director

Jennifer is a researcher at the Institute for Community Inclusion, University of Massachusetts, Boston (ICI). Her research focuses on the policies and practices at the individual, community, organizational, state and national levels that help people with disabilities engage meaningfully in community life and competitive employment. She is passionate about the positive effects of sports and the creative arts on physical and mental health, and exercises regularly with her dog and any interested family and friends.

Loice Bunei

Director

Loice chairs the CPI Programs Committee. She was born in Kenya and has been blind since the age of 12. She has a Master’s in educational leadership and administration from University of Nicosia Cyprus and a Bachelor’s degree in education from Kenyatta University. Loice has played goalball and was a blind runner. She lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Onwaniqua Heard

Director

Onwaniqua (Oni) studied in Kenya and now lives in Rochester, New York. As a graduate with a Master’s of Public Health concentrating in Community Health and Health Behavior, she has experience developing and implementing community programs tailored to diverse populations including people with disabilities and visually impaired individuals. She excels at spearheading a full range of tasks related to capacity building, community outreach, and organizational leadership.

Douglas Marange

Director

Douglas is a District Governor for Lions Clubs International, Suffolk County, New York. The Lions Clubs Organization is mission-driven to work with and support the blind and to provide education on the prevention of blindness. Through Lions Clubs and privately, Douglas has worked with blind and low-vision athletes in adaptive sports including beep baseball, and on the improvement of facilities for blind children and youth. As a long-time volunteer for Boy Scouts of America, Douglas has mentored many young people from childhood into early adulthood. Douglas lives in Suffolk County on Long Island, New York.

Ezra Mutai

Director

Dr. Ezra Mutai, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor at Purdue University. He has vast experiences in teaching, conducting research, and engaging in various community programs such as serving as a Board Member at Portage YMCA in Indiana.

Nathan Ronoh

Director

Based in Nairobi, Nathan supports the communication and program efforts for CPI in Kenya. Nathan is a strategic multimedia communications professional with over 6 years working for international Non-governmental organizations. He has extensive experience working with national and international partners drawn from the government and the private sector. Currently, Nathan enjoys working towards attainment of inclusive spaces in the education sector especially in the digital spaces. He particularly loves synthesizing information and technologies and focuses on developing digital formats that can be accessed by young children.

Peter Slatin

Director

Peter chairs the CPI Development Committee. He is a blind consultant, disability advocate and writer. He works with both private and public organizations to provide education on employment of and service to people with disabilities. As a writer and editor with deep knowledge of architecture and real estate development, he has won numerous awards, including the Oculus Award for Excellence in Architectural Journalism from the American Institute of Architects in New York City. He participates in adaptive sports such as tandem cycling and cross-country skiing. Along with the board of Camp Possibilities International, he serves on the boards of the Colorado Center for the Blind and Empire State Employment Resources for the Blind. He lives in New York City.

Eucabeth Chepkoech Soi

Director

Eucabeth is a U.S. Navy veteran, a Registered Nurse by profession and currently working in a managerial position with U.S. Department of State based in Kisumu. Eucabeth is a great leader, listener, patient and pays attention to details.

Eucabeth has experience in medication administration, safety, and positive behavior support for the autistic, mentally challenged and the elderly population. She also enjoys sports, traveling, and music.

Richard Weiner

Director

Richard Weiner is a lawyer in the International Group at Fredrikson & Byron and assists clients in international business transactions. His practice focuses on international joint ventures, partnerships, mergers, acquisitions, distributorships, licensing, franchising, contract matters, customs regulations and anti-corruption laws. Rich assists clients with renewable energy projects in the United States and internationally. His clients have relied on his expertise to successfully complete renewable energy projects in over twenty-five countries. He has represented companies in the biodiesel, ethanol, biomass and bioenergy industries for over twenty-five years, and focuses specifically on contract matters, technology licensing, construction issues, joint ventures, strategic alliances and dispute resolution in the renewable energy industry. Prior to joining Fredrikson & Byron, Rich worked in Puerto Rico, at an Italian firm in New York City and at an American firm in Brussels.

Shadrack Langat

Tech & Communications

Shadrack Kiprotich is a Microsoft Most Valuable Professional. He is passionate about technology though with a background in finance. His skills and willingness to help others in the tech community led to his nomination as the Microsoft MVP 2023. He was the only person from Kenya to get this award that year.

In his pursuit of technology, Shadrack is also passionate about making tech accessible for all. His story is one of passion, dedication, and the pursuit of excellence in technology. His achievements serve as an inspiration to many aspiring tech professionals.
